You have the answer, too much suds. Also not strong enough. Dishwasher detergent is a much stronger alkali than hand soap. Also contains bleach. ( look at the label )

Don't ever use hand soap / dish detergent in a dishwasher! Trust me I tried it. I figured that 1 ml wouldn't hurt anything. Needless to say the husband was quite pleased when he came home to find that I had scrubbed the entire kitchen clean. He didn't need to know that I had to scrub the kitchen in order to get the 12 inches of soap suds up off the floor.





Save yourself a headache and do them by hand. If you have stubborn caked on food, let them sit in a hot sink with sudsy water for about an hour. Everything should come off easily.





HINT: for pots that have stuck on food, pour some cola into the pot and let sit overnight. The carbonation in the cola works the food out. Then all you need to do is wash as normal.
